Thanks for teaching the dress form class. It was very informative to say the least. You
obviously know what your material and what you're doing. I appreciate especially the
time you gave to each of the 6 "wrapping" groups. It was very helpful to have you
rotating through to work with each group as we created our own dress forms. I have to
admit, it took some adjustment to come to grips with "me". Since I live in LA, I had to
ship my dress form home. It arrived yesterday afternoon and I'm looking forward to working
with "her".
Thanks from Janet

When I saw the "Dress Form Making Class" on the Expo list I was really thrilled.
I have bought a Uniquely You years ago, didn't fit. Than about 6 years ago I
purchased a Fabulous Fit (pricy) hoping that I could get all my bumps & lumps
inside the cover & actually get a dress form that was ME!!! Alas , that didn't
happen, I think that the Fab Fit is a good form, but the clincher here is MY OWN
unique problem. I have no depth perception, which mean I only see in flat. I am
able to fit everyone else quite well, as I am able to move around their bodies &
measure etc. For myself though, this is totally impossible.
No matter how many times I shifted stuffing in the Fab Fit, it wasn't ME.
Now however, the Dress Form we made in Jan's Class is really me!!!! I will
finally be able to try pieces on myself, just as I am able to do when I make
things for other people. Looking at my completed form, I can see that it really
is me & I will be able to fit accordingly. Too bad I couldn't have brought one
of the thinner ones home!!!
The class was so much fun & Jan was truly great at helping every student,
she could have filled the class many times over. It was sold out in 15 minutes!!!
I'm sure that is a record that will be hard to break. Keep up the good work &
I hope to see you next year.
Sincerely, Rose

I was at first skeptical about how this would work when I signed up for the class.
However, I was surprised how well it went & the finished product. I do wish we could
had a little more time, so that certain fitting lines could have been marked on the
form. I am now finishing my form & had some difficulty marking the armhole correctly,
but it is fine now. This is a critical fitting area for me.

I took Jan's dress form class on Sept 28th, 2006 at the Sewing Expo in Chantilly, VA.
I can only say good things about it. I felt the class was well worth the time and effort, and I am very satisfied with my
dress form. It was well organized, the instructions and demonstration were clear and easy to understand, and by the
end of the day, each of the 18 participants went home with a dress form.
Most of the women came on their own, so Jan put us in groups of 3 . In my class most of the participants were
35 years or older and there was a wide range of sizes and shapes. I really enjoyed getting to know the other members
of my group, Martha and Barbara.
I am thrilled by the way my dress form turned out. I have a high hip and forward shoulders. The dress form accurately
captured these body differences and will be a wonderful tool for fitting.
Thanks, Audrey
